JKTPO concluded exhibition at Amarnath Yatri Niwas Jammu
Jammu and Kashmir
Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) concluded,25 days long exhibition which
was organized to promote and showcase products of local artisans of Jammu and
Kashmir from July 9 to Aug,3 2023 (25 days) at Amarnath Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati
Nagar Jammu, which is also a base camp of Amarnath Yatris in Jammu. This
exhibition was conducted by JKTPO under the aegis of Department of Industries
and Commerce J&K which has showcased a variety of handmade products of
J&K viz: semi-pashmina shawls, stoles, Suits, and handmade gifts, Pickles
jam, handmade soft toys, handbags, saffron, dry fruits, honey, local spices
like Tikki masala etc
The main objective
of organizing this exhibition is to improve access to markets and provide
livelihood tothese low-income sellers. JKTPO regularly provides them with
opportunities to participate in national and state exhibitions, meetings
between buyers and sellers, fairs, and at other important platforms.
This event also
played an important role in highlighting J&K’s ODOP product range and its
marketing at the national level.
The exhibition was
attended by large number ofYatris came from every part of India and provided a
unique opportunity to see and experience handmade products from Jammu which has
paved the way for them to new market opportunities.
More than 15
vendors from Jammu, nominated by Handloom and Handicrafts Department,
Agriculture Department and Horticulture Department of Jammuhave participated in
the exhibition. According to Ms. Jagrti Nagar of M/s Jagriti Products, “this
exhibition is an opportunity for us to market our products in all corners of
India as the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar Jammu has become a MiniIndia,
whereYatris from all over India have come to hold darshan of Shiva Lingam.” Mohd Sharif of M/s New Aakriti Multicraft
Industrial Cooperative said that “we are happy that this exhibition has brought
us a great sale and we have earned a lot. We will continue to participate in
such events and thanked JKTPO for the opportunity to participate.
The Managingdirector,
JKTPO Mr Khalid Jahangir has congratulated the exhibitors for their efforts and
expressed his happiness and gratitude for the overwhelming support received
during the yatra.
He said that the
government will continue to organize and participate in such unique platforms
where we can exhibit the incredible diversity of our products. He said that
these exhibitions help create avenues for economic growth and promote the rich
cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir
