Jammu, January 30, 2023: Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) organized an export awareness workshop in association with Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO)
Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd (ECGC), Department of Posts, Government of India, and State Bank of India (SBI) in Jammu. These workshops
are being organized to realize the vision of Hon’ble LG, UT of J&K to export from every district of Jammu and Kashmir and making each district of J&K as a potential export hub, with a vision of increasing exports by 3 times in the next 5 years.
The workshops on directions of Shri Prashant Goyal , Principal Secretary, I&C, are being across the UT to promote exports from all districts of Jammu & Kashmir under District as Export Hub Scheme/ODOP initiative. These workshops aim to boost and support exports from UT of J&K and with focus on developing each district as export hub under District as Export Hub/ODOP initiatives. Niche products of Districts such as basmati, Fresh fruits, saffron, Pashmina , Basholi Paintings, Carpets, Paper machie ,
etc are prioritized in each district for further hard and soft interventions required at the ground level,
The workshop included detailed sessions on Benefits of exports, process of getting IEC code, awareness regarding India Business Portal and India Trade portal, credit linkages for exports and credit risk insurance facilities, e-commerce platforms, Logistics and potential of products of region in
international market.
On the onset Mr. Khalid Jahangir, Managing Director, JKTPO welcomed the business community members from Jammu and briefed the audience about mandate and various trade and export promotion initiatives undertaken by Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization. He further added that JKTPO regularly organizes and participates in various activities like Buyer-Seller Meets, Trade Fairs, Exhibitions, Conferences, Seminars, etc. at National and International level for registered members & women entrepreneurs. He further highlighted the export potential of unique products of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr A K Bhushan, Deputy Director DGFT, Jammu briefed about various Government scheme for export and documentation required for IEC registration. The participants were given the detailed presentations of all the major aspects related to exports, checklist for documents required to get IEC
Code, market linkages including e-commerce linkages and benefits. Many queries were resolved on the spot and various participants intended to get registered with DGFT. Mr. Bhushan, while interacting with the participants, highlighted the relevance of bridging the information gap. He provided the
necessary guidance to the participants for updating their knowledge by explaining them about various Export related schemes sponsored by Government of India such as EPCG, MEIS, SEIS , advance authorization schemes etc. Col. Vinod Kumar, Post master General, Postal Services, India Post, Jammu Region shared the attributes of portal Dhak Ghar Niryat Kendras which act as facilitation center for E-Commerce exports. ‘Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra’ are being established at Srinagar , Udhampur and Srinagar to promote exports of MSMEs. As per DNK portal exporter with IEC code can export any item weighing around 35 kg to point of destination from point of origin. Exporter can easily track their products delivered. Exporters can file postal bill of exports online through the web link created for the purpose and get the export shipments booked at designated DNKs/Post Offices. This will reduce the transit time and manual paper works for the exporters, thus facilitating direct export from the region to the buyers from abroad .
Mr. Nitesh Dalal, Assistant Manager, ECGC gave presentation on importance of insurance cover for exporters. He emphasized in the meeting that ECGC Provides a range of credit risk insurance covers to exporters against loss in export of goods and services. ECGC Offers insurance protection to exporters
against payment risks and other export-related activities including recovering bad debts.
He also explained the importance of export credit insurance that the risks have assumed large proportions today due to the far-reaching political and economic changes/ challenges that are sweeping the world. He also clarified queries raised by attendees on export credit insurance Mr. Chirag, Manager (Regional Treasury Marketing Unit), State Bank of India informed about Credit Facilities, Hedging Benefits and Trading by the customer on FX-Retail Platform and pre and post shipment requirements of export business. Mr. Gaurav Gupta, Dy. Director FIEO has also gave the presentation on benefits of registration on Indian Business Portal and informed about Free Online Business, Easy and Affordable Credit Rating, Compliance with the Government, Updates from FIEO on mail etc . About 100 participants including members Industrial associations, industrialists, entrepreneurs,
artisans, FPOs, SHGs and women entrepreneurs .
