Organises Export Awareness Workshop and Ecommerce Onboarding Session in Udhampur

Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) in collaboration with
FIEO, DGFT, APEDA and State Bank of India, organized a one-day workshop at
Deputy Commissioner’s office in Udhampur for new and existing exporters from
Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. The workshop was organized as per the
directions of Sh. Vikramjit Singh Commissioner/Secretary Industries &
Commerce, J&K and under the guidance of Managing Director, JKTPO in
collaboration with District Administration Udhampur
The workshop was chaired by Ms.
Saloni Rai, Deputy Development Commissioner of Udhampur District where she
appraised the participants about various benefits of E-commerce, export, and
market demand for quality product with appropriate packaging. She stated that
the producers and manufacturers from the district so far have been selling
their products in the domestic market and this workshop gives them an idea to
think beyond the boundary and reach out to international customers. He also
added that “Our products are at par with the international standards however,
farmers here lack the knowledge of export. I truly believe that the from now
on, producers will be more confident while exploring the international market.
The intent of the workshop
was to impart knowledge about various Export related Government schemes,
awareness regarding various financial and insurance assistance for exporters
and information regarding compliance, documentation required to get an IEC
number for exports. Along, with this Walmart Vriddhi and ONDC were also present
to onboard manufacturers and producers on to their platform. This would help
the manufacturers to sell their products to customers across India through
their platform.
Sh. A.K Bhushan, Deputy
DGFT, J&K, informed the audience about the DGFT's function in global
commerce. He explained about the kinds of paperwork and processes required for
registering an international business/IEC and other relevant trade activities.
During the onboarding drive,
Shri Banu Singh, Vice President of Sales at MyStore, the ONDC seller
partner, highlighted the benefits and functionality of the platform. also
appraised the participants about various benefits of Mystore e-commerce
platform. The ONDC platform is currently operational in 236 cities across
India, including Jammu and Kashmir.
The workshop received an overwhelming
response from sellers and entrepreneurs from Samba and about 100+ artisans,
retailers, entrepreneurs, traders, manufactures, FPOs and official of tourism,
agriculture, horticulture department Udhampur.
The workshop is in
continuation of the planned events to be held across the UT to promote exports
from all districts of Jammu & Kashmir under the District as Export Hub
Scheme/ODOP initiative. JKTPO shall continue such export awareness workshop and
e-comm onboarding drives to provide first-hand knowledge and information about
exports ecosystem and provide access to a vast digital marketplace and enable
local entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products nationwide.
