New Delhi, 22 September 2024 – World Food India 2024, a remarkable four-day food event,
unfolded at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from September 19-22, 2024. The grand
inauguration ceremony was led by three prominent dignitaries: Shri Pralhad
Joshi, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and
New & Renewable Energy; Shri Chirag Paswan, Minister of Food Processing
Industries; and Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu, Minister of State, Food Processing

The
Jammu and Kashmir Government reaffirmed its commitment to empowering
entrepreneurs at the 3rd World Food India edition in New Delhi, which wrapped
up on September 22, 2024. Under the guidance of Chief Secretary, J&K and
Commissioner/ Secretary to the Government, Industries and Commerce Department,
the region showcased its unique products through seven exhibitors sponsored by
the Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), generating an
impressive 600+ potential leads during the four-day event. This strategic
participation not only highlighted J&K's rich agricultural heritage but also
facilitated vital connections between local businesses and international
buyers, fostering an environment ripe for collaboration and growth.
The
JKTPO's support enabled J&K's entrepreneurs to tap into global markets,
unlocking opportunities for sustainable economic development. By leveraging
platforms like World Food India, the region aims to boost its trade and export
potential, This proactive approach underscores the administration's dedication
to nurturing entrepreneurship and job creation in the region.
At
the J&K Pavilion, international buyers from 17 countries - including South
Africa, Iran, Malaysia, Vietnam, Kenya, USA, Oman, Lebanon, Australia,
Thailand, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Netherlands, and Bhutan -
engaged in productive B2B meetings with J&K exhibitors. These interactions
yielded significant outcomes, with buyers sampling local products and placing
on-spot orders, particularly for GI-tagged Saffron, Honey, and Basmati.
Notably,
Wancho Sons, a local exhibitor, secured a substantial order worth Rs 20-25
lakhs for GI-tagged Saffron from African and Malaysian buyers. This deal is
expected to generate business worth crores in the coming days, showcasing the
immense potential of Jammu & Kashmir's unique products in the global market.
The other exhibitors are also expecting valuable orders from the potential
buyers who are engaged in negotiations with them. Notable on-spot sales were
also registered by certain exhibitors.
The
JKTPO-sponsored pavilion at World Food India featured an array of J&K's
signature products, including fruits, spices, dry fruits, honey, aromatic
products etc. The event enabled J&K exhibitors to establish crucial
business connections, explore new markets, and expand their export footprint.
As
the 2024 edition of World Food India concludes, the positive outcomes for
J&K exhibitors signal a bright future for the region’s Food & agricultural
sectors, paving the way for continued growth and international recognition.
