JKTPO organized E-commerce Onboarding Drive at Baramulla to uplift and boost local entrepreneurs.

Baramulla, Jul 15: Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) along with the District Administration Baramulla and leading e-commerce players, successfully organized e-commerce onboarding drive at Banquet Hall Baramulla to uplift and boost economic growth and potential of the local entrepreneurs in the region.

The main aim of the drive is reaching out at grassroot level to empower local artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs by providing them with access to a broader market, enhancing their sales opportunities, and fostering economic growth through digital commerce. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between local producers and global consumers, enabling sustainable livelihoods and promoting the region's unique products and cultural heritage. The drive is in line of the planned drives to be held across the UT for the onboarding of local products on e-commerce platform.

The event witnessed active participation of 160+ participants including women entrepreneurs, retailers, artisans, exporters, growers and FPO. The event highlighted the advantages of onboarding on e-commerce platforms and encouraged the participants to join online marketplace. During this day long drive 30+ participants were registered on-spot free of cost from various sectors and rest started the process of onboarding.

 

The occasion was graced by Mr. Minga Sherpa (IAS) Deputy Commissioner Baramulla who emphasized on the pivotal role of digital commerce in business growth in his address. He provided insights into the e commerce network and highlighted the numerous benefits of joining the platform. He was accompanied by Ms.Nighat Alam                              General Manager DIC Baramulla. The onboarding drive aligns with JKTPO's commitment to supporting local exporters by providing diverse marketing platforms and forward linkages.  

 

Earlier representative from JKTPO welcomed Mr. Minga Sherpa (IAS) DC Baramulla and all the other participants in the event and highlighted the importance of ODOP and DEH initiatives and the advantages of onboarding the products on e-commerce platform.

 

       Mr. Maqbool Shah from GeM gave the detailed presentation about the importance of GEM and its registration process on GEM portal and facilitated onboarding of the participants onto Gem portal in addition to online redressing of the grievances raised by the participants. The representative from ONDC also gave a detailed ppt about the registration process on MY Store app.

 

Representative from State Tax Officer Baramulla, briefed about the GST, its importance for doing any online business.

 

The highlight of the event was the one-on-one onboarding sessions, where seller and partners were directly onboarded onto the GEM portal. This hands-on approach allowed participants to swiftly integrate into the marketplace. The event showcased the commitment of JKTPO and District administration to empower local entrepreneurs and facilitate their entry into the global e-commerce landscape by providing a platform for small businesses to reach a global audience, this initiative aims to boost economic growth and create sustainable opportunities for the vibrant entrepreneurial community in Jammu and Kashmir. 

 

JKTPO is providing both physical and e-commerce marketing platform to entrepreneurs of Jammu and Kashmir at the National and International levels. Initiatives like participation in trade fairs/exhibitions, on boarding drives on GeM, ONDC and other e commerce platforms, Export awareness programmes at District level will help to improve overall trade and export ecosystem of UT of J&K.

 

A similar on-boarding drive is currently going in other districts of the UT and shall continue the spree of such events to endorse e-commerce on-boarding of potential entrepreneurs and boost the socio-economic scenario of J&K.
